Adalinda was just a wee thing in the days when Ancalagon the Magnificent rode alongside Pern. She grew up thinking of him as the greatest dragon of all time. When she came of age and his attentions turned to her, it was only natural that she and he would become, as he called it, a ‘thing’. She found his knowledge fascinating, but he never understood why she cared for the smaller and weaker dragons. Though she’s seen less battle than most of the other dragons she is the third oldest and possibly the second strongest.
When her soul was separated using the ritual Ancalagon felt betrayed and went around fathering many young dragons. All of which he is very afraid to tell her about now that she has awakened. Now that she is bonded with the hero Lucius she has seen more battle. It is fairly obvious that he still has strong feelings toward her and she still feels something for him.
